Contracts worth £90m awarded to Esh Group companies

Lumsden & Carroll awarded Northumbrian Water contract and Dunelm Property Services secures contract with Erimus Housing, Middlesbrough.

Esh Group has announced that two Group companies, Lumsden & Carroll and Dunelm Property Services, have won contracts worth in excess of £90m over the next six years.

In the face of strong local and national competition and following a rigorous selection process lasting almost a year, Lumsden & Carroll has secured two long-term framework contracts for Northumbrian Water.  The contracts, worth up to £9m per annum could run up to 2011 and will involve works to the Wastewater Network.

Commenting on the contracts John Davies, Managing Director of Lumsden & Carroll said;

‘We have worked with Northumbrian Water for over 15 years on the Wastewater Network and, for the last five years, as Area Service Provider.  During this time we have worked on a ‘partnering’ basis as an integrated team, with a dedicated NWL satellite office at our premises.  This has enabled us to consistently raise standards of delivery – to the mutual benefit of all concerned.  I am very proud of the team’s efforts and, obviously, delighted that we will be continuing to work with such a prestigious regional client’.

Dunelm Property Services, together with two other contractors, has been awarded a contract worth £105m over five years to carry out ‘Decent Homes Standards’ works on behalf of Erimus Housing in Middlesbrough.  Erimus Housing was formed in November last year when Middlesbrough Council carried out a transfer of its housing stock.  Dunelm Property Services, together with Erimus Building Services and ROK, will be working with Erimus Housing to deliver the promise made to its tenants, “ensuring high quality and customer focused services that are second to none”.

David Halfacre, Managing Director of Dunelm Property Services explained;

‘The first phase will involve approximately 800 homes in the Berwick Hills and Park End areas of the borough; these will be completed by March 2006.  After that a further 800 properties each year will be introduced into the programme.

‘We are obviously delighted to have won such a prestigious contract – especially as we received the news just ahead of our third anniversary.  I wholeheartedly congratulate the team in having achieved such recognition in such a short space of time.’

Commenting on the successes, Brian Manning, Chief Executive of Esh Group said;

‘These are tremendous wins for Lumsden & Carroll and Dunelm Property Services - we are all looking forward to working both with our clients, Northumbrian Water and Erimus Housing, and our fellow framework contractors.

‘I know both companies succeeded in the face of strong competition, so this is really good and important news for the region.  It proves that indigenous contractors, such as Esh Group, are capable of handling high value, long term contracts.  When these are won by home grown companies – local employers which develop high quality supply chains within the area - this can only be good news for the regional economy overall.  I very much hope this news gives a boost to all indigenous companies who face challenging procurement situations.’
