Year 4 pupils were presented with special awards for Health and Safety posters produced as part of a competition. The posters will be used around the new development site at Parkfield Hall.
The competition aimed to raise awareness of the dangers of children playing near to construction sites and was organised by Durham-based Dunelm Property Services, the company responsible for developing the Parkfield Hall site.
“We were very impressed with the pupils’ enthusiasm and their excellent posters. Choosing a winner has been very difficult and we decided, after a lot of thought, to award more prizes!
“We were very pleased to welcome so many pupils on visits to the site as part of the project. It is clear that they learned a lot about the work that happens there and the dangers that can exist. At Dunelm Property Services we believe involving the community in our work is very important – here particularly so as the school summer holidays are fast approaching.”
The six winners of the competition each received gift vouchers at St Cuthbert’s end of year assembly on Friday 17th July and it is planned that all twenty nine posters will be put on display.

The Parkfield Hall development is being carried out by Endeavour Housing Association in partnership with Stockton Borough Council. Ten new modern apartments will be created to provide supported housing for local young people.
Overall the new development will include ten self contained apartments, outside garden space, car parking, IT facilities, CCTV and a 24 hour staff base for up to five staff members.
Due for completion in November, the development follows an extensive consultation process with local residents, stakeholders and businesses after planning permission was granted to demolish the previous unused building at the site.
Young people living in the apartments will receive, through a planned agreement, between Stockton Borough Council and Endeavour Housing Association, essential life skills training as part of their tenancies. Endeavour Housing Association’s Group Development Officer, Joy Whinnerah, said:
“Endeavour Housing Association is proud to be working with Stockton Council to deliver this much needed service for young people in Parkfield. The demolition of the old Parkfield Hall has allowed us to create a modern building which will enhance the streetscape and overall environment for local residents.
“All partners are committed to continuing to work with the local community and to keeping them up to date with progress on the scheme. We’re all looking forward to completion.”
